American School Project Receives Recognition During U.K. Conference

The American School Project, a joint effort between University Libraries and the Gibbs College of Architecture to document the work of OU’s architecture program, recently received a shout-out at the Society of Architectural Historians of Great Britain ARCH/TECTURES ARCH/VES conference.

Edward Bottoms and Eleanor Gawne of the UK’s Architectural Association library presented on “Drawing on the Archive: Architectural Education and Archival Practice.” In their survey of architectural program archives in the UK, they cited Oklahoma along with Princeton and Cooper Union as American institutions successfully promoting their institutional archives and student work. The final day of the symposium is scheduled for September 18, 2020, in an online format.

The American School Project is led by Stephanie Pilat and Angela Person, in collaboration with dozens of faculty, staff and students from across the University of Oklahoma. Bridget Burke leads the OU Libraries’ American School Archive project.
