Reed’s work has been featured in Architectural Record, Landscape Architecture, and Buildings magazines, and he has received awards at national, regional and local levels. In addition to these accolades, in 2011 Reed was elevated to the AIA College of Fellows in recognition of his work, which transformed visitor experiences across the nation. Currently, Reed is a member of the FAIA Advisory Committee and the Board of Directors of the Friends of Fort McHenry.

Of the opportunity for students and community members to attend Reed’s lecture, Daniel Butko, acting director of architecture, said, “As with most professions, we in the design and construction fields of study are life long learners. We should embrace a variety of viewpoints relating to education and practice as long as the people sharing their insights and experiences are professing human-centric, socially equitable, and environmentally responsible practices.”

Butko continued, “The Division of Architecture prides itself on collaborative learning and introducing students to design professionals who are successfully embracing sustainable and resilient design. I am personally excited to welcome Alan Reed as a guest lecturer and workshop leader to allow GWWO’s mission of ‘enriching the human experience through responsible design that is inspirational, evocative, and progressive’ to inspire and influence OU students and faculty.”

Reed will lecture at GCA on Wednesday, March 25, at 4 p.m. in Gould Hall Buskuhl Gallery. Reed’s lecture is made possible with a gift from RTA Architects.
