Four Gibbs faculty members recently received OU Faculty Awards for their outstanding service and dedication to teaching. The recipients include Construction Science faculty Dr. Tammy McCuen and Bryan Bloom, Interior Design faculty Mia Kile, and Gibbs College Dean Hans Butzer.
Dr. Tammy McCuen – Award for Outstanding Service
Dr. Tammy McCuen received Provost’s Award for Outstanding Service, which recognizes excellence in OU-related outreach and service activities. According to the Dean of Gibbs College Hans E. Butzer, “Dr. McCuen has established herself as a leader in the industry nationally—serving as a positive and aspirational role model for all of our Gibbs College students. A common thread throughout her service work is how Dr. McCuen helps grow awareness about the importance of the construction management discipline locally and nationally.”

Prof. Bryan Bloom – Award for Outstanding Engaged Teaching
Professor Bryan Bloom received Provost’s Award for Outstanding Engaged Teaching. This award recognizes faculty that utilize innovative teaching techniques that promote community collaboration and high-quality, engaged learning. According to Ben Bigelow, “Professor Bloom’s passion is community engagement as a vehicle for giving students an unmatched learning experience. He has sustained his work for five years and, despite the additional time and pressure created by these projects, he persists.”

Prof. Mia Kile – Award for Excellence in Transdisciplinary, Convergent Research
Mia Kile received the Award for Excellence in Transdisciplinary, Convergent Research, which recognizes excellence in leadership in the creation of collaborative teams of recent faculty projects. Professor Kile and her team also received the Annual Award for Excellence in Research Grants, for acquiring over $1,000,000 in grants in 2022.

Dean Hans Butzer – Award for Excellence in Research, Design, and Creative Expression in the Humanities and Fine Arts
Dean Hans Butzer received Vice President for Research and Partnerships Award for Excellence in Research, Design, and Creative Expression in the Humanities and Fine Arts, which is an award given to a tenured or tenure-track OU faculty member whose career-long and/or recent work offers a transformative new direction in humanistic or creative development.
