With her teammates, Jillane Tatarian, Interior Design senior (left), was named first runner-up in the design charrette during the 2018 International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Texas-Oklahoma Chapter Student Conference. Jillane was on a team with students from Louisiana State University, Texas Christian University, and the University of Alabama. Their submission, titled “Elemental,” showcased their design of an educational facility.
The conference brought together students, educators, and design industry professionals for a multi-day professional enrichment experience. Project and firm tours, professional development for professionals, portfolio reviews and mock interviews conducted by working professionals, industry expo, and a variety of other networking opportunities were organized. The student conference is designed to elevate the profession of Interior Design and lead the way for the next generation of interior designers. Participants are involved in a variety of events that are designed to enhance participants’ knowledge of the practice and influence of interior design through presentations and conversations with practicing professionals.
