“Justice and Urban Design” Published in The New Companion to Urban Design
Regional + City Planning Assistant Professor Bryce Lowery and Professor Lisa Schweitzer, of the University of Southern California Sol Price School of Public Policy, recently coauthored the article “Justice and Urban Design,” published in the book The New Companion to Urban Design (Routledge, 2019).
Their article compares the relationship between social justice and the built environment. Recognizing that justice is a desirable goal for urban design, the authors trace the evolution of the design professions from solely expert driven modes of practice to engaged models supportive of community-driven, co-production of space.
