To support their current Center for Resilient Design Education design project located on the border of Norman and Moore, Oklahoma, ARCH 4756 and 5536 students recently went on virtual tours with various design professionals and clients to learn more about vital links among architecture, landscape architecture, and structure in regard to sustainability and resiliency. These studio courses are taught by Daniel Butko, Kyle Casper, Anthony Cricchio, and William Reue.
Locations and speakers included:
- Plano Environmental Education Center with Alex Pharmakis (Senior Sustainability Outreach Coordinator and facilities manager),
- Josey Pavilion (Dixon Water Foundation) with Tenna Florian (partner in Lake|Flato and architect of the pavilion) and Melissa and Tom Bookhout (who own and operate the facility),
- Site discussion with OU Landscape Architecture‘s Bret Betnar,
- OU Couch Tornado shelter with Marcia Gallant (MA+ senior associate and project architect) and Coreslab‘s Coleman Harrison, Sean Morris, and Stephanie Johnson.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to inspire the students!
